I feel pretty clever for making that title. And doubly so because we found a food combination that would satisfy us for the least amount of money in a rather expensive Chinese restaurant like Wai Ying.
WARNING! Photo heavy post!
It had been really pleasant, today. My morning and afternoon classes were responding really well to the activities I've been giving them, and I do think they are learning something new for me. This idea of giving them really hard problems, harder than the usual programming problems they have been used to in class I think had really forced or encouraged them to think and challenge their brains and their abilities. I think now, what they just need is a bit more confidence; I have to give that to them by making them realize just how talented they can be, if they just allow themselves.
And to do that, I have to say and do the same for myself as well. I think I've been much too lax and far too lazy recently. When I begun this blog, I had this mindset of discipline and consistency, as well as always having a sense for adventure, and doing something different all the time. Perhaps I have once again been trapped in the droning routine of everyday life, perhaps I have allowed myself to be drawn back into it. Whatever though, I can worry about the exact reason later. All I know is I have to step up again.
I'm not depressed or anything, I just think I've been too relaxed and laid back. I've been really productive, yes, but at the same time, I feel like I've gotten used to being in a status quo, which is never a good thing for me, I think. I always have to look for new ways to improve myself, learn something new or experience something new.
Which is why I would go swimming maybe next week. Heh, a really long and rambling intro just to say that, but I just had to let it out again, I guess. And yes, I think I might give it a shot. I'm not much of a swimmer, in fact, I don't really swim at all. I have a love-hate relationship with water you see? I love drinking it, I hate being in it. I hate the feeling of drowning; I had some pretty embarrassing experiences regarding that. Some wise-ass P.E. teacher pushed my head down the water when I couldn't float in one of our swimming exercises. Kinda interesting that it's similar to what I'm doing now with my COMPRO1 students; I'm forcing them to solve really difficult problems so they could get used to it. I guess it had attracted quite a bit of a following with the other students who are currently taking COMPRO2; I've been having quite a number of sit-ins lately. I guess what my P.E. teacher did in the past for me works after all.
Anyway, so yeah, we ate at Wai Ying today! (cue sudden change in background music to something more cheerful XD)
I had a nice lunch/dinner/snack with my friends in that restaurant. I used to love the food they serve there, even if it's rather expensive, but lately I've been getting this impression that all their food taste alike, and I don't really like it all that much. Which is why it was kinda refreshing to have what we had today, a ton of cuapao (the buns they use in siopao, which can either be fried or steamed; we ordered both), and a ton of fried tofu. You'd think it wouldn't really work, bread and tofu, especially since we put quite a lot of chili on the tofu, but the sweetness of the cuapao and the condensed milk you dip them in really contrasts with the savory spiciness of fried tofu; quite an experience for the palette!
I apologize for the redness of the pictures BTW. I tried my best to fix them in post, but it's really hard since the restaurant has a lot of yellow and warm lights and I felt it was unnecessary/lazy to change the White Balance settings of my phone >__<

Anyway, that should be all for me today. Gotta push myself harder tomorrow; there's a lot of work that needs to be done. For now, may we all have a good night, and a great morning.
