Day 6: Da Vinci and Birthday Celebrations Part 2

Another day with plentiful highlights.
WARNING! Photo heavy post!

Today had been another tiring and satisfyingly full day. I might not be able to talk much about it for now, as I'm already extremely sleepy, but I'd give it a shot.

So the day started quite late when I met with my always lovely girlfriend (although for once I was on time for our appointment XD). Nevertheless, we were both very excited, why? Because today was the day we were to go to the Da Vinci Exhibit in the Mind Musuem in Bonifacio Global City in Makati (deceptive, since it's actually closer to Taguig than Makati; in fact, BGC used to be a part of Taguig until the courts ruled that it was indeed part of Makati, but that's a story for another time). As you might have already implied, we were both geeks for Da Vinci, she for his amazing artworks and me for his impressive inventions. You could understand how very excited we were; did I mention we were very very excited? Because I might have not mentioned how very excited we were XD

The exhibit hall was quite small, but it was brimming and dense with Da Vinci related displays and interactive replicas of his inventions. There was a section on his dabbling with flight and aeronautics and another for his machines of war.

There was also a whole section full of replicas of his designs for devices that facilitates the translation of motion from one form or one direction to another.

Then there was wall upon wall of his studies in anatomy and his magnificent artworks like the Last Supper and his ever famous magnum opus, the La Gioconda or more popularly known as the Mona Lisa (hipster cred for name dropping the painting's original title? Nah, haha).

We also watched a screening of his life, how he grew up and how he was underpaid for most of his life. It was a fun learning experience I would say, we really learned a lot from our scientific and artistic idol, and while we had hoped the exhibit was bigger, it was definitely worth it!

After, we went and ate in a coffee shop nearby. We shared a cup of pink guava juice and a lemon square.

We chilled out a little bit, took our time eating our little snack and rested before we set out back to Ayala for round 2 of the birthday celebration of my girlfriend, this time with her friends. We got stuck in heavy traffic, but we eventually made it to Heaven and Eggs, a very nice restaurant located in Glorietta 4 mall. Lot's of friends were there, and with them, their ball jointed dolls.

Somebody also brought cake for all the September birthday celebrants (including me :p). The cake was called Wet Dreams, quite appropriate for the theme of the evenings chit chat. We like to think we're all mature enough that every once in a while we'd joke about immature things XD

And then, it was time to go home. Tomorrow, there would be another get together, this time to send-off a very close friend of ours. I really don't know if I should look forward to it though; I know it's gonna be fun and all being with friends again, but it's sad at the same time because we probably wouldn't be seeing our friend again for perhaps a few months to a year. I'd talk more about it tomorrow I guess.

For now, have a great Friday, and an even greater Saturday tomorrow!
