Not the prettiest sight, but you get used to it
Today had been a full day, and I regret not taking any worthwhile photos. I decided to take this photo instead because I suppose, in a day full of highlights, finally making may way back home is the one that I looked forward to the most. Not because the day had been particularly bad, it was just really tiring.
I started the day with back to back classes. Since it's still the first meeting for these, it wasn't supposed to be overly taxing, but I wasn't used to such an endeavor so early in the morning, so it was still quite tiring. It was nice though, getting to know my new students for this trimester. I'm again both anxious and excited about how the rest of the term will pan out. I'm worried however about my second class for the day, as I found out that the student that was caught cheating in one of the major examinations of the previous trimester was in it, as well as the one whom this student cheated from. The story is a lot more complicated than this however, and I fear there is some resentment between these two students because of what happened. I also fear that the person who was copied from has an attitude issue, this student has this air of disinterest and arrogance that I fear might get in the way if not in this trimester perhaps in the next. I'm gonna have to rely on my Father's help and on the advice of the senior faculty members to handle this hopefully not so grave anomaly.
After my classes, I got to meet with my project team for a web development project that would serve as part of our portfolio as a group. The details are still under wraps however, but perhaps one day I'd be able to talk about that too in this blog. Suffice to say, the goal of the website we are trying to develop is rather lofty and ambitious; we really do hope however that everything works out in the end as we are trying to give back to the Filipino gaming community by developing this website.
I got a chance after to talk to my adviser regarding my thesis and consultancy related plans for this trimester. He asked me to prepare a weekly deliverables list to guide me in completing my thesis this term, so that next term I could be promoted to Assistant Professor. Alongside this, the plan should also include deliverables for the consultancy project we are developing for a client. It's a project that has been going on for quite some time now, and while it pays quite well (not stellar, perhaps not even that well at all), it's still time consuming and laborious. Hopefully that gets finished soon as well.
My adviser also asked me for another set of deliverables, and this one excites me quite a bit. He wanted to revise the class materials we use for the subject I'm teaching so that it could be geared more towards game development. He asked me to come up with a game students could develop for a trimester that could be incorporated somehow into the lessons in the class materials, perhaps as programming examples. Of course, this excites me a lot because I've always wanted to be involved in game development, and this could be a way to achieve that dream of mine. Again, hopefully I'd be able to deliver excellently in this regard!
I'm already quite excited for the term ahead; it's gonna be exponentially more hectic than the previous trimester, but I do feel it'd be much more fruitful and awesome :D
We had dinner not long afterwards in a restaurant I've only twice visited; the first time was when I and my girlfriend were still students. The restaurant is called Gravy Fix and as the name implies, their main gimmick is in their gravy. They serve a variety of gravy flavors, from the basic house gravy to the weird tipsy style gravy (gravy with some red wine). You can even get unlimited gravy refills, and you can change the flavor of the gravy each time you do! However, the rest of their menu items are, well, decent and not really too fantastic; it's really the gravy that carries the whole experience and makes it somewhat worth the rather moderately expensive cost.
Finally, before heading home, I visited a nearby friend's home to play some League of Legends, which is currently one of my favorite games. We played a ranked match, my ninth placement match so I could finally be put in a tier of players of relatively equal skill. We lost the game however, but it was alright. We thought about why we lost and I guess we more or less were able to identify points for improvement next time we play. I really want to reach the Gold Tier before this season ends, but with all my other tasks, I'm not really sure if I can reach it. It'd be a great icing on top of the cake if I could do this along with my other goals, but this is one I can shelf away for the time being.
And then, there you have it. Tomorrow, I'm meeting with my class in the other campus of the University I work for, hopefully this time I would remember to take good pictures XD Also, tomorrow is my mother's birthday! I still don't know what me and my brothers should get for her, perhaps we should buy her mocha cake XD
Have a blessed Wednesday tomorrow!
