Farewell for now my friend :(
WARNING! Photo heavy post!
I said in passing yesterday how today we will be celebrating the sending-off of a dear friend. Well, it had been a fun day, but a bit sad at the same time. Sci-Fi cafe, despite its short comings, was a really cool and fun venue for my friend's send-off party; I got a hoot out of the costumes they have in the store that you can wear and take pictures in. Still though, while it has not fully sunk in me yet that, one of my dearest friends is going to Japan for a year to take her Masters in Business. She's going back home for the holidays, sure, but still, she wouldn't be around in person for meet-ups and get-togethers; we can contact her still via Skype and the like, but it's still going to be different.
Anyway, I left the house late today for my appointment with my girlfriend because we didn't have water and I couldn't take a bath. This meant that, as per my agreement with her, I'd owe her a hundred pesos. I stuck with the agreement even though I could have easily begged off of it because of the rather major inconvenience, but a deal was a deal. Sad because just yesterday I was able to be on time and I thought I was on a roll. I guess things like that happen, just have to do better next time.
Sci-fi cafe is a new and rather small place in Robinson's Galleria mall located in Ortigas. As the name implies, it's a science fiction and comic book inspired restaurant with walls lined to the ceiling with collectibles and 1/6th scale action figures from movies, comic books and other geek-worthy franchises. I only managed to take decent photos of the Batman section and a row of Johnny Depp figures, but trust me when I say they have a ton of stuff on display!
I would say though, the main draw of the restaurant isn't their food, which is decent but could have been better. The novelty of the place however and the fun costumes and props they let you play with while you enjoy their food definitely makes up for that.
Friends brought their dolls again, and I had fun posing and taking photos of my friend's little kids (I made them take selfies!). To her chagrin at some point, but I'm sure she liked at least some of the photos I took XD
We'd definitely miss our friend when she finally flies two days from now.
Hope you had a great Saturday, and a greater day tomorrow, Sunday.
