Day 31: Shingeki no Kyojin - The Game

So, I wasn't able to go swimming today. Some of my friends who were supposed to go swimming with me weren't informed that it was today. I guess they thought it was some other day, maybe on Thursday. It's alright though, I had a lot of other tasks I needed to complete anyway, so perhaps it really wasn't meant to be. 

Also, hey, I got to play the Shingeki no Kyojin game, so I guess my day wasn't all that boring!

This game was AMAZING! I've been in love with the anime ever since I began watching it, and the gamer in me craved to don my Wings of Liberty and play as one of the members of the Chōsa Heidan or the Survey Corps. Imagine my surprise when, I went into the HQ of my faith community to find some of my friends playing this game. I had a class in a few minutes, but I wasn't able to resist playing a few games; it was really really fun, and all that I had hoped for in an SNK game of its scale, and even more!

It was really difficult at first though. From the show, the only weakness of the titans is a small area at the back of their necks, and with the limited Physics and 3D rendering of the game, it was quite difficult to accurately maneuver myself to slash through that small area. I could only kill at most one titan on my first few tries but I eventually got the hang of it after playing a few training games (there's a stage where the titans do not move or fight back, so you can practice your maneuvering). Now I could almost manage to kill ten titans, the maximum I ever done was, I think eight. 

I'm also getting the hang of the 3D Maneuver Gear controls of the game; now I'm able to bait the attack of a titan, dodge, dash towards the back of the titan using the gas release system of the 3DMG, then attach myself using the guy wires of the 3DMG to the back of the titan somewhere close to the titan's weak point. I can do this with a fair amount of consistency too! Actually scoring the killing blow though could still be hard, and it's almost always a gamble. I can actually appreciate now how skilled the characters in the anime are with the 3DMG! XD
